Bridge Street Revealed: from Beach Market to Quayside

Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, TD15 1BN

Join Dr Catherine Kent in this fascinating talk as part of the "Bridge Street Revealed" strand of this year's Heritage Open Days examining evidence of fourteen centuries of change in Berwick.

Berwick-upon-Tweed is famous as King Alexander III's 'second Alexandria... with the sea its riches and the water its walls', but little is known about the physical infrastructure which underlay the success of this merchant port. Evidence from a wide range of disciplines helps shed light on the development of this important part of the town.
