Berwick’s Lost Public Houses

Below you can take a look at just a tiny selection of Berwick’s historic pubs which are no longer in existence.

If you study an old map of Berwick you’d be amazed at the number of pubs there were. In the 19th century there was quite literally a pub on every corner.

From the top of Hide Hill to the foot of Sandgate there were a staggering 19 hostelries in 1852!

As you’ll see, there are still one or two traces of these all but forgotten pubs if you look hard enough.
